The goal of Millennial Con is to actively engage young professionals in the area, to empower them as well as give them the tools to voice their opinions which will allow them to shape and become invested in their communities. We want our local decision makers and leaders to stop talking ABOUT us and to start talking TO us. It all begins with Millennial Con! This isn't going to be your ordinary conference (After all - Millennials' are planning it!) But what you can be sure of is that you will walk away knowing how to empower your neighborhood, with new friends, and great memories of the first ever Millennial Con #4Progress! April 1 - Cosmic Shuffleboard with Realize Bradenton - Fun, Music, Food, Social Location: 1525 Ballard Park Dr; Bradenton, FL 34205 April 2 - Millennial Con @ the Bradenton Area Convention Center Location: 1 Haben Blvd Palmetto, FL 34221 We have many action labs (sessions) or TED-styled talks that are geared to young professionals. Breakfast starts at 9 a.m., and the Con begins at 10 a.m. Meet & Greet with Your Manatee County Commissioners- Have a quick Q&A session with your elected officials. Place Matters, Life Adapts, Interactions happen, Everything Changes - Description to be added soon. Entrepreneurship - Some of us want to be our own boss. We dream about the days when we can work from home, set our own schedule, and do what we want but we don't necessarily know how to do it. Living Green & Lean- Description to be added soon. Financial Stability - Got debt? No credit? Bad credit? Learn how to get onto the path of financial stability to obtain big ticket purchase items such as a home or car. Creating an Internship Program @ Your Job - This presentation is designed to help employees and employers understand how a strong internship program is critical to growing their businesses. Barriers to Millennial Housing Dialog Session - Conference attendees will be able to ask questions on how to advocate for affordable housing accommodations as well as hear from key players on what's occurring in Manatee County. How to Take Ownership in Your Community and Be Your Own Advocate- The fact is that our county is changing and it's up to us - the next generation - to help shape its future by being involved in the community and government processes NOW rather than later. This lab will show you the way to do just that. In addition to all of these sessions, there will be a tech bar area for you to spruce up your resume on Surface Pros, network, have fun, and relax.
