Description
American Scrimshaw Lecture & Demo
Saturday, September 11, 1 pm -SOLD OUT-
Scrimshaw is regarded as an original American art form of nautical origin. What is SCRIMSHAW? It is a scribing and inking process that is done on bone, antler, fossil, or synthetic materials. Whalers originated this art form by making intricate etches or "scrims" on whale teeth. Join the Florida Maritime Museum for this free event as Erwin Wunderlich, artist and scrimshander, presents on modern and antique artwork and demonstrates the basic techniques of scrimshaw. This event is sold out. A video of the presentation will be posted online at a later date.
