Description

Downtown Holmes Beach completes its annual seasonal series of ArtWalks from 5:30-7:30 PM on April 14, 2017. Participating art galleries and retail businesses include Anna Maria Island Art League, Artists’ Guild of AMI, Island Gallery West, SteamDesigns, Restless Natives, Vintage Beach, and Saltair. These locations will feature special exhibits, free refreshments, music and fun for all those who enjoy strolling and shopping in downtown Holmes Beach. The Anna Maria Island Art League The Art League will present a new exhibit of local artists’ work with a Public Reception from 5:30-7:30 PM. The AMI Art League is a nonprofit arts organization with more than 25-year history on the island. Free admission to the public. Regular hours are M/W/F 10 am – 2 pm. 5312 Holmes Boulevard Artists’ Guild of Anna Maria Island In April, the human form will be celebrated through the work of two artists. Nancy Goff works in pastels and Karen deLeon Stuart in oils, and both frequently include the human figure in their art. The public is invited to meet them at the Guild’s ArtWalk reception. Local art, jewelry, baskets, gifts and more can be found in this all-volunteer, nonprofit guild. 5414 Marina Drive Island Gallery West The photographs of Tampa-based fine art photographer Richard Stewart will be featured during the month of April in an exhibit entitled “Sea & Shore,” a collection of Richard's work showing his fascination with the water around us. Many of the gallery’s 28 artists will be on hand at the ArtWalk to share refreshments with visitors and to celebrate the gallery's anniversary of presenting local art for the last 27 years. Regular hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. 5368 Gulf Drive SteamDesigns SteamDesigns of Holmes Beach will feature large format photographic works by Island-based photographer Nick Donatelli. A native Floridian, Donatelli is known for his iconic landscapes, art photos of native wildlife and fine art. His artwork can be seen throughout the three island cities but his main base is at Island Gallery West. SteamDesigns owner Frank Williams provides Donatelli with all his canvas stretched reproduction needs. The public is invited to meet Nick, enjoy fine art, refreshments and light bites. SteamDesigns is a digital arts studio specializing in high-end giclée reproductions — up to five feet wide — for artists and photographers. 5343 Gulf Drive, # 600 Restless Natives Enjoy a drink and live ceramic and glass demonstrations at the April ArtWalk. From upcycled scarves, handmade ceramics and home décor, Restless Natives is a one-stop shop for one-of-a-kind finds and locally made goods by more than 40 local artists. Showcasing popular scenes by Robert Johnson and fine jewelry from Hammered by Wendy, there is a range of gifts to choose from and exciting displays to enjoy. Open 7 days a week, 10-5 or browse online at Restlessnativesgifts.com. 5416 Marina Drive Vintage Beach Owner/artist Joseph Hutchinson will showcase his expanded and rebranded shop, Vintage Beach. Hutchinson, a Ringling School of Art student and pupil of Marilyn Bendell and George Burrows, has crafted his eye for color in his paintings and with his repurposed furniture and driftwood sculptures — all of which will be on display for the 2017 season’s ArtWalks. Regular hours are 10 am - 5 pm Mon.-Sat., and Noon - 5 pm on Sundays. 5500 Marina Drive Saltair Proprietor Teresa Burgess has more than two decades experience in buying, and an eye for the new and unique. Her shop features women’s clothing, jewelry, and household decor. The shop’s walls display art by local artist and resident Kim Darnell. Darnell’s work captures the essence of sea life on Anna Maria Island. Saltair ships all over the country, and Darnell can be commissioned to create a painting at customers' request. 5508 Marina Drive
