Description

Stan Schultes, co-founder of Spark Growth, conducts a community discussion this evening and asks, "What's a Smart City and What Does that Mean to You?" A Smart City is an urban development vision to integrate multiple information and communication technology (ICT) solutions to manage a city and region’s assets – think local departments' information systems, schools, libraries, transportation systems, hospitals, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, Emergency Management, etc. Through the use of sensors integrated with real-time monitoring systems, data are collected from a wide variety of devices with the goal of improving quality of life with insights gained through big-data analytics. How do we collect and analyze that much data, what areas of life would benefit from this technology most, and what about privacy concerns? Join us at Station 2 Innovation in Bradenton and help drive the conversation on how our area can best be served by Smart Cities technology. Before and after our Smart Cities talk, network, learn and mingle with fellow professionals from Manatee & Sarasota counties and the surrounding area all along the Innovation Coast. We feature informative and exciting events handpicked from the area's best and brightest, all of which will propel your skills and businesses forward. You'll learn fresh perspectives and about new innovations in technology, business, education, and more. Team member Norman Dempsey has an MBA in Information Systems and Finance and frequently says our speakers are so valuable that he's earning his second MBA in Entrepreneurialism and Small Business! Mark your calendar and be prepared at each session to learn new tools and tactics and arrive early for business networking opportunities. Be sure to subscribe to the Station 2 Innovation newsletter which includes our events and other important happenings that you're sure to benefit from.
