Responsibilities
 
 
   
 
Maintains and repairs HVAC and chilled water loop system.

Troubleshoots, diagnoses, maintains, and repairs HVAC equipment. Uses motorized vehicles to travel campus.

Monitors operation of computerized heating ventilation and air conditioning system (Chilled Water Plant). Maintains appropriate operational logs. Makes appropriate system adjustments to maintain consistent system production and efficient energy consumption. May make emergency decisions affecting system operation and/or shutdown.

Troubleshoots and identifies chilled water pipe problems. Performs installs new or repairs heating and/or air conditioning equipment including compressors, condensers, and pumps. Recharges air conditioner units with refrigerant as needed. Inspects and maintains low pressure gas fired boilers.

Performs a variety of work to maintain all buildings on campus such as pressure washing, painting, plumbing, filter changes, inspecting buildings/equipment to ensure good and safe operating conditions. Assists other trades workers and performs other duties as needed.

Assists with emergency and or special Facilities' maintenance projects as needed. Generates and responds to emails and work orders via online work order system. Updates work order system once per day regarding progress and/or upon completion of assignment. Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Qualifications
 
 
   
 
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to 2 years.

Note: A technical or vocational degree in plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, or other trade may substitute for experience.

Experience working with and/or knowledge of chilled-water loop systems or HVAC, or other related trades work.

Building maintenance experience; to include safely operating machinery, tools, equipment, and materials used in building maintenance. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, to include: the ability to lift and carry 50lbs., climb ladders, walk significant distances, and work in small spaces.

Ability to remain on-call during designated periods outside normal working hours.

Valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License or the ability to obtain.

Anticipated Salary Range
 
 
   
 
$35,000 per year.

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

While the primary working hours for this position are Monday through Friday between 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, the incumbent may be required to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, special events, and holidays.

Remains on-call during designated periods outside normal working hours as needed to monitor and remotely make necessary adjustments for the chiller plant. While on-call, the incumbent may be required to return to the work site to respond to maintenance emergencies.

Per FSU policy, Pay Additives, incumbents are eligible to receive on-call pay. The position incumbent is required to be accessible and available to return to work during off-duty hours.  Eligibility is limited to USPS employees who shall be informed by the department via memorandum of the on-call assignment, except during an emergency.
