Job Description
The Aquarium Services Associate (both part time and full time positions available) serves as a cashier for Mote’s admissions and retail operations.  This position will be responsible for performing cashier and guest services duties at multiple admission areas, Fossil Creek, the Virtual Reality experience, and any other experience/area incorporated into the Guest Services department. This position may also help to coordinate/direct/assist volunteer cashiers.  
 
Tasks:
 
  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, complementary tickets and discount coupons.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Assist customers by providing information and resolving their complaints.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Greet customers entering establishments.
  • Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures or policies.
  • Sell tickets, memberships, and other items to customers.
  • Assist customers at the Virtual Reality area, including ingress and egress from the seating area.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout.
  • Responsible for opening and closing accounting procedures at admissions and assisting volunteer cashiers with related procedures.
  • Work with additional cashiers for coverage issues.
  • Stocking and restocking of merchandise.
  • Preparing and stocking of Fossil Creek bags.
  • Perform any other assigned opening and closing duties.
 
Working Hours:
 
Working hours typically occur between 8:30am-5:15pm with an unpaid lunch break.  Weekend and Holiday shifts are required as Mote Aquarium is open 365 days a year.
 
 
Work Setting:
  • Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs and move 56 lb guide map boxes with the help of a dolly.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • May require stooping or crouching.
  • Requires sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Requires First Aid and CPR training provided at Mote.
  • Work environment will be both indoor and outdoor at various times
