Job Description
Watershed Engineer (Official Job Title: Technical Specialist I):  This is professional engineering work with responsibilities and activities including coordinate the watershed model updates; planning activities; site and development reviews; provide support for stormwater maintenance activities in a watershed; coordination with multiple internal departments and coordination with external governmental agencies and clients.

Development Review:
  1. Review Land Development Plans and County Capital Improvement Projects for consistency with the stormwater section of the Land Development Regulations (LDR) and Watershed model(s).
  2. Provide written comments on reviews relative to any inconsistencies.
  3. Schedule and attend meetings with the other engineers and applicants to discuss solutions to the review comments.
  4. Responsible to maintain plans, files, and models associated with development submittals and to determine the critical timing of incorporating approved plans into the County’s Record Model.
  5. Conduct CFHA Reviews to assist Building Department with obtaining local base flood elevation information.
  1. Provide technical comments for stormwater review projects (for Conceptual, Preliminary, and Final Development plans as necessary), to ensure that development projects satisfy the LDR and do not cause adverse impacts and level of service (LOS) deficiencies.  This work includes providing technical comments for rezones, special exceptions, and other land use reviews that must go through a public hearing process at the Board of County Commissioners and/or Planning Commission.
Watershed Modeling Activities:
  1. Coordinate with Geographic Information System (GIS) Staff to maintain the GIS databases to be consistent with the Record Models.
  2. Maintain accurate floodplain delineation.
  3. Identification of Level of Service deficiencies with in the Watershed.
  4. Analyze areas of concern for cost effective solutions to LOS.
Conduct CFHA Reviews to assist Building Department with obtaining local base flood elevation information.

 Minimum Qualifications:   A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Technical or related Engineering field. Project experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience.  A valid Driver’s License is required.
Preferred Qualifications:  Coursework and interest in stormwater, hydrology, hydraulics and water quality experience is preferred.
