Job Description

Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) Compliance Coordinator (Official Job Title: Business Professional I):   Manages Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) for program compliance including audit related duties, ensures staff are trained, certified and maintain certification, monitors changes in Florida statues/rules, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) procedures, creates and monitors staff training plans, ensures all course training is completed and provides in-house training when necessary. 


Oversee Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) Operations and Certification Process :

  • Create training plans for new hires and existing staff on an annual basis; work with supervisor (Jail Operations Coordinator) to coordinate training coverage; monitor plans for program compliance and audit readiness, update SVS with training information, communicate with trainers and DJJ personnel to arrange training or work out training issues, provide guidance and supervision on youth processing, randomly assess staff interviewing, documentation and processing skills, ensure CCC reports are completed and submitted along with follow up training for staff.
  • Provide in-house training courses for staff as needed. Provide one on one training for staff as needed. Take calls from staff regarding JAC questions or issues; provide coverage as necessary.
  • Present at CIT training for law enforcement.
  • Report to supervisor frequently on status of employee training and needs and provide performance information for probationary and annual evaluations.    

Manage Program Audits:

  • Track and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statistics.
  • Ensure files remain audit-ready and coordinate biannual audits with FDLE, HR and Health and Human Services.
  • Attend and respond to audit requests.

Monitor and respond to changes in Statutes, Rules, DJJ Policy, FDLE Regulations, etc.:

  • Stay abreast of any changes that impact JAC operations by routinely checking aforementioned sites and checking with partner agencies.
  • Communicate changes immediately and effectively so managers and staff are aware and provide in-house training sessions to ensure staff are in compliance.
  • Create and/or update policies and procedures to reflect changes as necessary.

Intake coverage:

  • Provide coverage and assistance to Intake Unit when there is downtime or when the business need arises.


Minimum Qualifications:  An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of job-related experience. OR a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in job-related field; one year job-related experience preferred.  Five (5) years of professional related experience can be substituted for the degree at management discretion. Must maintain JAC certification. Depending on training needs, may require certification in CPR as a trainer, as well as other JAC related courses. FCIC/NCIC certification required.

Preferred Qualification:  A Bachelor’s Degree in related field with one year of experience, preferred.
