Responsibilities

This position works as part of the facilities department and is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities include:

- Performing a variety of work to maintain all buildings on campus such as commercial plumbing, dry wall repair, pressure washing, commercial painting, and inspecting buildings/equipment to ensure good and safe operating conditions.

- Performing routine servicing of mechanical and plumbing systems as part of the preventative maintenance program. Troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical and plumbing systems/devices.

- Generating and responding to emails and work orders via online work order system. Updating work order system once per day regarding progress and/or upon completion of assignment.

- Providing basic support to Ringling ITS with installation and telecommunication devices repair. Assisting staff on installing and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment/devices.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalency and two years’ experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years. Technical or vocational degree in commercial plumbing or other appropriate trade may be substituted for experience.

- Experience in commercial plumbing, dry wall repair and remodeling. Experience in commercial maintenance.

- A valid Driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

- Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position including the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, climb ladders, walk significant distances and work in small spaces.

- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and work independently and as part of a team.

- Ability to obtain a lift certification (training provided by The Ringling after hire) and be physically able and willing to operate an aerial lift.

- Ability to learn applicable computer applications (such as FacilityDude) and knowledge of basic computer functions (including Microsoft Outlook).

Preferred

Professional/Commercial painting experience.

Mechanical skills including knowledge of electrical motors and pumps, HVAC, and/or electrical.

Anticipated Salary Range

$29,000 annually + Florida state benefits available.

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Schedule

While the primary working hours for this position are Monday through Friday between 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, the incumbent may be required to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, special events, and holidays.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
