Job Description
The Sports & Day Camp Program Director is responsible for the development, organization and implementation of the youth and adult sports programs and the seasonal day camp programs (Fall; Winter; Spring & Summer). Essential functions includes: Hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers; Reviews and evaluates staff performance; Establish new program activities and expands existing programs at the branch and within the community; Directs and supervises program activities to ensure the safety of program participants and staff; Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information and set-up programs in CCC; Compiles program statistics, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs; Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives; Assists in the Y annual fundraising campaign; Assists with branch and association events and responds to member, program and community inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Must be a least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years management experience.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years youth and sports programs experience.
  • Ability to coach, train, and teach skills in all varieties of indoor and outdoor sports offered.
  • Must be patient and able to make sound judgments while interacting with children in a timely manner daily.
  • Must be flexible and open to new ideas, changes and procedures, as well as a willingness to learn.
  • Must be comfortable in public speaking.
  • Able to perform in emergency situations.
  • Possess excellent human relation skills to a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Able to remain calm and positive in stressful situations.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Have excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must be able to work frequent long periods of moderate to heavy work, able to lift up to 50 lbs. and have sufficient agility and mobility for standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, sitting and cleaning to perform the requirements for this position.
  • Must be dependable and professional.
  • Hold current CPR/AED-Pro and First Aid certification or complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Must complete required Redwoods Risk Management online training and attend New Hire Orientation within 30 days of hire.
