Only about 37% of the population is eligible to donate blood at any given time\, and of that percentage\, less than 10% actually do. This is the reason that the need for blood is constant\, whether or not we're in a pandemic. The coronavirus has definitely heightened the need for a blood supply\, making this is a critical time for potential donors to step up and support local blood drives.
