Description
The Chamber's Big Bank Theory program helps Manatee County high school students develop financial literacy through a fun, hands-on simulation of adult life.
Think of it as a real-world version of the Game of Life®. Students are assigned a career, income, and monthly expenses, then challenged to balance their budgets by making smart financial decisions. Along the way, they visit stations representing common adult expenses such as housing, transportation, food, clothing, insurance, and more. (See photos below.)
How Volunteers Help
As a volunteer, you'll guide students as they navigate spending choices and work to stay within their monthly budgets. No financial expertise is required—we provide training and make it easy to participate.

Volunteer Shifts
Two volunteer shifts are available each day:
- Morning Shift - 7:15 to 11:15 AM (our greatest need)
- Early Afternoon Shift - 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- All-Day Shift - 7:15 AM to 2:30 PM (lunch provided by our generous sponsors)
Note: High school hours in Manatee County Public Schools are 7:30 a.m.–2:25 p.m.

To bring Big Bank Theory to students during the 2026–27 school year, we must fill more than 400 volunteer shifts. Please consider signing up for one or more shifts at one or more schools.
