Description

Comfort Zone Camp ? A Safe & Fun Place for Grieving Children to Heal & Grow Make a difference in the life of a grieving child ? become a mentor or group facilitator! Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit organization that provides free therapeutic programs for children ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, guardian, or sibling. The programs include confidence building activities and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Ultimately, Comfort Zone Camp provides a safe and fun place for grieving children to heal and grow. There are many volunteer opportunities within Comfort Zone Camp. Become a Big Buddy! Each child is paired 1:1 with an adult Big Buddy volunteer. The Big Buddy role includes: ? Ability to donate a weekend of your time ? Willingness to play, talk, listen, and be silly! ? Participate in all aspects of the program. Additional volunteer roles include: Nurses, Grief Therapists, General Camp Volunteers (support staff), and more. We are honored to partner with The Mark Wandall Foundation for a camp program in Bradenton, FL on Saturday, October 24th 2015 - and WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! The first step in becoming a volunteer is to attend a volunteer training. Comfort Zone?s volunteer training provides education regarding childhood bereavement, and prepares volunteers to take part in our camp programs. All volunteers are required to complete our 6-hour training before attending camp - The next training in Bradenton, FL is on Saturday, August 15th 9:00am-3:00pm at R. Dan Nolan Middle School. Check out the website for more details and registration here. Please email Jessi Schmale jschmale@comfortzonecamp.org with any questions. As an additional note, Comfort Zone is always looking for children, who can benefit from our services, to join our programs. Again, these services are free of charge! Please feel empowered to let the grieving families and children of your community know of the opportunities that are available to them through Comfort Zone Camp. Comfort Zone thanks you in advance for helping provide grieving children with a voice, a place, and a community in which to heal, grow, and lead more fulfilling lives.
