Description
Meet Rocket Burns, entrepreneur, inventor, public speaker, instructor, and business owner. Did we mention he’s still in middle school? Rocket is an incredible young man and an active member of the Sarasota-Bradenton Maker Community where he can often be found outside of school hours at the Suncoast Science Center pulling things apart, putting them back together, or manufacturing parts from raw materials including by way of his own custom built 3D-Printer. He has a handful of startup businesses underway including HackerBoxes and Rocket-3D Printers and he’ll talk about crowdfunding and other sources of support and revenue for startups. His projects include not only 3D Printers, but also CNC devices, smartwatches, arcade machines, lightsabers (coming soon he promises!), and more. Rocket is fluent in HTML 5, CSS, C language, and knowledgeable in Python & C++. Rocket has explored the potential of crowdfunding for getting entrepreneurial projects off the ground and has worked closely with Kidbacker and Hatchpad in this realm. He’ll talk about tying various projects together via IoT (the Internet of Things) and we’ll get to hear about some of his moonshot ideas! There’s more to Rocket than just cool projects and startups. He enjoys going to Maker Faires and tech events, public speaking including speaking engagements at Station 2 Innovation, the Education Foundation of Sarasota, speaking at Sarasota-Bradenton’s DaVinci’s Faire & BarCamp, plus conducting a popular TEDx talk. He’s a Sci-Fi fan, likes meeting other makers, learning about their fun projects, and exchanging ideas with others to improve his own projects, so don’t hesitate to engage him in conversation, you’ll probably both walk away having learned something new.
