Description
Like most franchise owners, consultant, speaker, and entrepreneur Nick Choat has made a shift from traditional corporate roles to the role of franchise ownership. As is very common, when Nick was contemplating this change he had more questions than answers. Should he give up the comforts of his corporate roles for the uncertainty of small business ownership? Should he consider a raw startup, purchase an existing business, or buy into a franchise system? Of the thousands of franchise opportunities, which ones are the best fits? What questions should he be asking but doesn't know enough to ask? Being a franchise owner can be rewarding, but it's not without risk and anxious moments. Nick has over three decades of professional experience starting as a software developer and evolving to become a digital strategist. He has held executive positions with highly respected brands such as The Walt Disney Company, Ernst & Young, the Boeing Company, and VeriSign. He is currently the CEO and owner of Sport Clips Haircuts, leading the expansion of the franchise brand throughout southwest Florida. On the surface the haircutting industry may not appear to be a "high-tech" career opportunity. With Sport Clips, however, Nick is marrying his corporate background with the skill requirements of a successful franchise owner. His Station 2 discussion will tell his story as an owner of Sport Clips franchises. Drawing on real examples from his business (both good and bad), he will discuss the learning that comes from a transition into franchising. Most importantly, he will arm the audience with both an understanding of the resources to support this type of decision, as well as the pitfalls to avoid. His objective with this discussion is to encourage you to take the next step with your franchise decision, if franchising is truly right for you.
