Description
Join us for an important conversation with local leaders on Amendment 3, a complex ballot item that would make significant changes to Florida's property tax system. You'll gain valuable insight into how the amendment could impact businesses, residents, local governments, and the future of our community.
This is a members-only event to give our Manatee Chamber members the opportunity to hear from local leaders on this topic.
On this year's general election ballot, Florida voters will have the opportunity to decide on Amendment 3, a complex proposal of property-tax changes that would affect how homestead and non-homestead properties are treated for property tax purposes. These changes would become part of Florida's Constitution if the amendment passes, but what are the possible unintended consequences? What is included in the amendment and how are local governments and agencies that rely upon property tax revenue approaching their budget planning? What about non-homesteaded properties, including commercial/business and rentals/leased space? How should we consider property tax reform within the context of Florida's broader tax system, our state's long-term economic needs, and the needs within our state's diverse 67 counties and 267 cities?
The Chamber created a task force to carefully study the amendment. Members include past Chairs of the Board, current Board members, committee chairs, and committee members. Over the past several months, we heard from our Sheriff, local fire departments/districts, mayors, representatives of County government, and the Florida Chamber of Commerce – and we want to provide our members with a similar opportunity.
Headliners Luncheons also provide a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow Chamber members and take part in a conversation about the issues shaping our community.
