Description

The Manatee Rare Fruit Council’s annual fruit tree and plant sale will be Saturday, March 21 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch off Route 70 (I-75 Exit 217) about 5 miles east of I-75.
This outdoor event is one of the largest one-day tropical fruit tree sales in the region. In addition to a broad selection of fruit tree species and varieties, there will be tropical vegetables, rare and exotic plants, ornamentals, and other hard-to-find plants. Worm castings, worm tea, plastic fruit protectors, and more will also be available for purchase. Additionally, vendors and club members will be on hand to provide expert advice. Entrance and parking are free, and the event is open to the public. Restrooms are available on site; however, an ATM is not.

Although many vendors accept credit/debit cards, bringing cash is encouraged. Those attending the event are encouraged to bring carts or wagons to transport their purchases. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Manatee Rare Fruit Council (mrfc.org). The MRFC is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization which has supported home-growers of tropical fruit throughout this region for more than 40 years.

This fruit tree and plant sale is a once-a-year opportunity to purchase rare and unusual fruiting trees and plants. Come with a list or just browse and ask questions. A “green thumb” is not required!
