Manatee County Voters Face a Decision...
Description
The Manatee County School Board is asking voters to increase the district’s property tax rate $1 for every $1,000 in taxable value. The special election will be held March 20. The millage increase would bring in an estimated $33 million, beginning the next fiscal year.
The board’s stated purpose is to raise teacher and district employee salaries, extend the school day, expand science and technology instruction, and benefit charters.
The issue has been contentious on several fronts, initially being the referendum’s cost for a special election, $300,000.
The question today is why or why not should voters approve or disapprove of this referendum.
Join us on February 15th to hear our four speakers address those opposing views.
