The central responsibility of our Board of County Commissioners is to adopt a budget, and Manatee County’s is slated for $1.4 billion. Our board also establishes policy for county departments and is responsible for hiring/firing the County Administrator and the County Attorney. They allocate funding to our constitutional officers, including our sheriff and serve as the Port Authority. These elected officials work for our residents, and at the core of their responsibilities is the protection of health, safety, and welfare of the community.
