Proceeds help support literacy initiatives for Manatee’s youth! David Baldacci joins the list of blockbuster authors for the Manatee County Library Foundation’s annual fundraiser, taking place on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the State College of Florida’s Neel Performing Arts Center. Baldacci is the international best-selling author of more than 30 novels, including Absolute Power, The Winner, Wish You Well, The Camel Club and No Man’s Land. An astounding 110 million of his books are in print, while several have been adapted for film and television. Drawing on his experiences in law, publishing, philanthropy and fatherhood, Baldacci reflects on the twists and turns of his life a corporate lawyer-turned-one of the world’s finest storytellers. Proceeds from the evening will continue to benefit the Manatee Library System’s innovative “I am a Lifelong Learner” program, which focuses on improving literacy among Manatee County’s youngest readers. A Lifelong Learner Campaign Coordinator meets families at the point-of-need to offer outreach programs that develop literacy skills, adds summer reading programs at public libraries and enriches parental engagement through informational programs and supplementary resources, such as Early Literacy Kits, new technologies and books. Event Chair is Jaymie Carter who serves on the Library Foundation Board of Directors. John Horne, Owner and President Anna Maria Oyster Bars, and his wife Amanda, are the honorary chairs of the event. The Hornes have been actively involved in numerous projects and fundraisers involving educational improvements for Manatee County children for over a decade.
