Description

Libraries are full of material dealing with the subject of the Egyptian pyramids. Much research has been done on them, but there is so much that is still unknown. Because they have entered the public imagination, countless documentaries, popular articles, and internet blogs feature information about the pyramids, and quite commonly on the pyramids of Giza specifically. With the rise of independent media, however, misinformation about these grand marvels and ancient architecture is sometimes spread. Dr. Miano will address one of the common claims found on the internet these days, that the Great Pyramid of Giza was not, in fact, a tomb, as Egyptologists assert, but something else entirely. Do these claims hold up to scrutiny, or are they built upon a foundation of sand? Dr. David Miano is an ancientist, specializing in the histories of the Near East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, and China. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, San Diego, and currently teaches at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. He is the author of “How to Know Stuff”, a little e-book designed for the general public, and several anthologies designed for classroom use, including “Ideas in the Making: A Sourcebook for World Intellectual History to 1300” and “Pen, Stylus, and Chisel: An Ancient Egypt Sourcebook”. He also is host of the ancient history focused Youtube channel, “World of Antiquity”. Time Sifters Archaeology Society - A Chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society - P. O.
