The Manatee Literacy Council (MLC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering adults in Manatee County, Florida through literacy. Our mission is to empower Manatee County residents to independence through literacy. We provide free, one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction in reading, writing, English language skills, and basic education. **Job Summary:**

We seek a highly organized and motivated Office Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish and preferably conversational in Haitian Creole, as they will play a crucial role in supporting our diverse community. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

**Responsibilities:**

- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and staff.

- Answer and direct phone calls, greet visitors and respond to inquiries.

- Utilize QuickBooks for financial record-keeping

- Assist with the coordination of meetings, events, and literacy programs.

- Maintain office supplies and manage inventory.

- Handle data entry, filing, and record-keeping.

- Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.

- Support the recruitment and coordination of volunteers.

- Perform other office duties as assigned.

-Assist with general marketing support.

**Skills:**

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in office administration is a plus.

- Fluent in Spanish (required).

- Proficiency in Haitian Creole (preferred).

- Proven experience as an office assistant or in a related administrative role.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Proficient in Google Suite of Products (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Passionate about our mission to promote literacy and support the community.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
