Job Summary: Assists the department AVP as required with the coordination of the college’s environmental safety and health plans & programs, hazardous substance abatement programs and monitors compliance with collegewide procedures for the purchase, storage and use of chemicals, and the disposal of hazardous materials and waste. Ensures college’s compliance with and provides all required OSHA, EPA, State and/or local safety environmental training programs. Supports the Customer Service Center.

Job Description
Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:
1. Develops and implements employee safety and health policies related to environmental issues or concerns with respect to environmental safety and health and establishes procedures, policies, and methods for collegewide compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
2. Trains employees in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and Florida Occupational Safety and Health regulations and establishes procedures and methods of compliance for collegewide management of hazardous materials which includes the purchase, storage, and use chemicals and the disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous wastes.
3. Provides direction and support for plant safety processes, providing guidance and leadership and encouraging plant involvement to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and SCF standards.
4. Supports and audits facility standards and policies & procedures.
5. Establishes committees as needed to address safety and ergonomic issues.
6. Audits locations at certain frequency to ensure compliance with SCF and regulatory agencies.
7. Analyzes environmental conditions and recommends changes to eliminate facility functions to reduce harmful effects on the environment.
8. Assists in leading environmental efforts of ISO certification, including writing policies, participating and/ or leading environmental committees and other related tasks.
9. Manages permitting activities relating to Federal, State and local regulatory agencies.
10. Coordinates activities and special projects with academic and administrative departments to ensure effective service levels. Employs new methods and products and equipment in custodial and related fields including the use of new products and equipment.
11. Maintains and updates status reports and schedules in data bases.
12. Organizes and conducts field inspections and acts as the principal trainer on existing or new techniques, procedures, and standards.
13. Acts as backup to Facilities Budget Specialist with preparing requisitions, purchase orders, encumbrances, working in Banner and Budget spreadsheets, as well as filing etc., and other related work as needed. Coordinates travel arrangements, prepares travel forms and arranges for reimbursement of funds.
14. Ensures that all federal, state, and local laws, and College policies, procedures and departmental standards are followed. Works with the AVP and departmental managers in their implementation.
15. Works closely with the AVP to develop procedures and best practices. Provides input in management decisions, supports the mission and vision of the department, and works to maintain a positive office environment.
16. Assists in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Assists in the collecting and compilation of information used for quality assurance. Interviews and greets visitors and phone callers and provides services and information.
17. Maintains the department-specific database, inputs project data and other related information and utilizes data to prepare reports. Maintains reports including the Projects Update, Annual Compliance Calendar, Annual Contracts, Annual Facilities Calendar, and miscellaneous other information. Creates and maintains additional spreadsheets as needed.
18. Manages the SCF Golf Cart Training Program.
19. Creates, updates, and maintains the Facilities Management Customer Service Survey and report results to the AVP. Assists with the Building Managers Program.
20. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
·Education/Experience: An Associates degree and three years of relevant experience in facilities operations is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with School Dude: PM Direct and Maintenance Direct preferred. Knowledge of State requirements for educational facilities preferred. Experience with Environmental Health and Safety Plans and Programs in a Higher Educational setting preferred.
