Visit our for benefit details Job Summary Prepares material for open instructional laboratories according to established procedures. Assists students and instructional staff under the direct guidance of faculty and area administrator. Supervises student workers in photography digital lab and darkroom. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • Provides instruction to students working on current course assignments in photography open studios. • Prepares darkroom and digital lab daily. Assures cleanliness and follows all national and state requirements pertaining to safety and health protocols. • Assists students in use of laboratory equipment and materials. Serves as resource person to assist students in completing assignments. • Performs inventory of lab materials and equipment, and maintains records as required. Manages and maintains check-out system for photographic equipment. • Coordinates use of laboratory equipment, media, and materials to meet daily student and instructional requirements. • Instructs students in safety protocols to facilitate a secure work environment in the darkroom and digital lab. • Provides technical support and regular maintenance to photographic equipment and printers. • Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids. • Works closely with vendors on equipment and supply needs. • Assigns work, trains and supervises student assistants as required. • Places orders in a timely manner and anticipates studio needs prior to the start of each semester. • Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and four years' experience in related field; or Bachelor's degree from four year college or university and one year experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience tutoring and/or teaching college students is preferred. Supervisory Experience: One or more years of experience as a “lead” employee, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning work, training new employees, and assisting others with problems. Certificates and Licenses: N/A Responsibility for People and Property: Responsibility for routine maintenance of lab equipment. Performs work as “lead” employee for laboratory staff and students. Responsibility for Communication: Internal Contacts: Routine contact with students, faculty and instructional administrative staff. External Contacts: Frequent contact with vendors; occasional contact with prospective students, general public, and professionals appropriate for discipline. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use manual dexterity and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must lift/move and/or stack up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
