Job Summary: This position provides responsibility for managing all aspects of instructional design consultation, training, and support. In addition, this position. provides leadership, expertise, and creativity to support and inspire faculty in successfully integrating technology into online, hybrid, and face to face classes. Assists, trains, and facilitates faculty efforts to provide equal or superior outcomes for online and hybrid courses in achieving standard learning outcomes. The Lead Specialist, Instructional Design and Learning Technology is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the many and varied software applications and technologies available to support learning in all modalities. This position serves as a lead trainer for faculty professional development provided through Online Learning and CTLE (the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence).
Job Description
Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:
1. Guides faculty in the design/ redesign and development of course goals, content and instructional strategies and activities for web enhanced, hybrid and fully on-line courses.
2. Assists faculty in evaluating learning outcomes for ongoing revision and improvement of technology-enabled or enhanced instruction.
3. Assists the Director, CTLE and Online Learning in the development of a comprehensive faculty development program to encourage the appropriate pedagogical use of technology in online, hybrid, and face to face classes..
4. Supports faculty in their experimentation and use of current academic web and multimedia development software and interactive learning techniques.
5. Develops and teaches ongoing seminars, workshops, trainings and certifications on various distance learning and technology-related topics. 6. Provides leadership for enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational technology into online, blended and face-to face classroom settings.
7. Provides instructional design assistance for administrators and staff developing and designing online courses for leadership development programs.
8. Acts as backup to Administrator, Learning Management System (LMS), for handling routine Learning Management System housekeeping tasks and routine troubleshooting.
9. Researches and evaluates commercially produced software and courseware.
10. Remains current with technological advances and changes in instructional pedagogy.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of three years’ experience in instructional design and delivery and integrating technology into the teaching/learning process. Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia instructional technologies (especially the web), distance education, and instructional design and assessment methodologies. Demonstrated ability to design, create, and deliver instructional materials using appropriate development tools, and to train and lead faculty in these endeavors. Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems; advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, Internet, presentation, and College database software, course management systems (such as Angel, Blackboard), course management system administrator applications and tools, web development software; Web conferencing; imaging software and hardware; computer integration with a variety of audio-visual equipment; projection systems; audio and video systems; switchers. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of the many and varied software applications and technologies available to support learning in all disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
Quality Matters certification is a plus.
