The Program Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with Accreditation Standards as delineated by the appropriate accrediting agency. The Program Director must demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work within the administrative structure. The Program Director position is a 12-month faculty appointment with teaching and administrative responsibilities during the Fall and Spring semesters and administrative responsibilities during the summer. The position receives 50% release time annually, totaling 15 ILH divided over the Fall and Spring semesters to allow for the completion of administrative functions inherent in the position. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • Encourages professional growth and development of departmental faculty and staff. • Schedules and assigns faculty teaching loads. • Develops and implements appropriate program policies and procedures. • Serves on College committees as required. • Recruits, provides orientation, supervises, mentors, and evaluates adjunct faculty. • Assists class coverage for absent faculty as needed. • Supervises and evaluates, staff assistants and other career employees who are assigned department responsibilities. • Provides supervision and evaluation of departmental faculty. • Develops short and long-term goals and objectives for the department. • Develops, implements, and evaluates courses and programs within the department. • Develops and monitors department class schedules. • Prepares and administers the department budget. • Works cooperatively with the various college departments and the SCF Foundation to pursue alternate sources of funding. • Promotes an environment to enhance morale within the department and college. • Conducts department faculty meetings. • Attends scheduled administrative meetings. • Serves to enhance communication between various college offices as it relates to department interests. • Assists in preparation of College catalog, brochures, and other public relations materials pertaining to the department. • Monitors trends in contemporary healthcare and education practice as related to student enrollment, delivery of the academic program and clinical education. • Recommends and maintains equipment, materials and supplies inventories to maintain state of the art classroom and laboratory areas. • Monitors student admission, retention and recruitment activities for the department. • Completes advising of students enrolled in the academic program • Serves as a liaison for the department to other colleges, local schools, community agencies, businesses, and industries. • Supervises and facilitates communication between the academic program and various stake-holders as appropriate. • Provides leadership in the effective utilization of instructional technology. • Utilizes administrative computer systems for effective management of the department. • Prepares official college forms. • Evaluates and recommends administrative action on faculty and staff requests and applications (such as leave, purchases, and promotion). • Analyzes and reports department effectiveness. • Makes oneself available to all members of the department. • Addresses all student and faculty concerns as appropriate. • Maintains SACS and the appropriate health program accreditation standards (includes all required accreditation reports, self-studies, site visits, etc.). • Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education/Experience: Masters Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in discipline and/or education. Current licensure to practice in the State of Florida or Florida license eligibility. Demonstrated teaching skills and subject knowledge preferably at the community college level. Active, unrestricted PT licensure or PTA licensure/certification in Florida or eligible for licensure.Minimum of a master's degree. A minimum of five years of full-time, post-licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience within a US jurisdiction. Didactic and clinical teaching experience. Nine credits or more in educational theory and methodology to include: instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment. Experience in administrative management. Experience with institutional and programmatic accreditation. • Supervisory Experience: One to two years of direct supervisory experience, including responsibility for hiring, firing, performance management, training and coaching is required.
