JOB SUMMARY The Landscape Technician I performs a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: planting, fertilizing, sod laying, trimming, digging, and raking throughout the Lakewood Ranch Inter-District Authority property. The Landscape Technician I will assist with unloading of work/delivery trucks, site set up of plant materials, and assist in maintaining a clean and organized job site. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Three (3) to five (5) years landscape maintenance experience preferred. Must be punctual; regular attendance is required. Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Successful completion of background check. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES General knowledge of Florida plant materials and landscape practices. Knowledge of basic small hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of safety and security procedures and how to use equipment and materials properly. Must be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Must be able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to work in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The safe use of landscaping tools and processes. Pruning wetland buffer vegetation and removal of exotic species. Planting of landscape shrubbery, trees, and sod.
