Job Grade: Grade 4 $34,068 - $49,398 Annually $16.38 - $23.75 Hourly JOB SUMMARY The Landscape Technician I performs a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: planting, fertilizing, sod laying, trimming, digging, and raking throughout the Lakewood Ranch Inter-District Authority property. The Landscape Technician I will assist with the unloading of work/delivery trucks, site set up of plant materials, and assist in maintaining a clean and organized job site. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • One (1) to two (2) years of landscape maintenance experience preferred. • Must be punctual; regular attendance is required. • Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. • Successful completion of a background check. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES • General knowledge of Florida plant materials and landscape practices. • Knowledge of basic small hand tools and power tools. • Knowledge of safety and security procedures and how to use equipment and materials properly. • Must be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. • Must be able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday. • Must be able to work in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time. • Must be able to reach overhead. • Must have a full range of mobility in the upper and lower body. • Must be able to follow oral and/or written directions. • Must meet productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner. • Must be able to work as part of a team and foster a positive work environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. The safe use of tools and processes including, but not limited to: a. Light trucks b. Light trailers c. Chainsaws d. Pole pruners e. Hedge shears f. Shovels g. Rakes h. Machetes i. Gasoline blowers. 2. Service equipment used daily. 3. Pruning wetland buffer vegetation and removal of exotic species. 4. Planting of landscape shrubbery, trees, and sod. 5. Maintain company vehicles as assigned, including, but not limited to: a. Cleaning b. Weekly fluid level checks c. Fuel d. Mileage recording 6. Provide the supervisor with any required paperwork including receipts, fuel logs, mileage logs, and work order completions daily. 7. Always observe all company and governmental safety regulations. 8. Responsible for professional and courteous working relationships with all IDA employees, District Supervisors, and HOA Directors. 9. Responsible for prompt, accurate, and courteous service to all customers and other outside agencies or vendors. 10. Performs all other duties as assigned or needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY No supervisory responsibility for this position. WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment and conditions described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: 1. Work is performed outdoors and exposed to typical weather conditions. 2. Hazards: including but not limited to heat, dehydration, and exposure to solvents and adhesives. 3. Safety equipment must always adhere to the IDA’s and governmental safety policies and use of required personal protective equipment including reflective vests, gloves, and eye and ear protection. 4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 5. Physical risks include working in and around roadways and traffic and working in and around excavation sites. WORKING HOURS Normal working hours are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Overtime may be required; the position is eligible for overtime pay (1 ½ time hourly rate).
