Title: Executive Director 
Salary: $55,000 - 70,000, 100% FTE (40 hours/week)  
Responsible to: The Board of Trustees
 
Objectives: 
The Executive Director oversees all administrative and operational tasks for the Manatee County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition dba Drug Free Manatee, a 501(c)(3). The Director conducts regular staff, project, and budget meetings to ensure the effective use of time and resources. The Director maintains records and produces reports contractually required and updates the Board on topics related to the like. Provide budget preparation along with financial supervision and review. Strong networking skills are necessary. The ability to identify and develop fundraising opportunities. Must embody and advocate for the mission, vision, and strategic direction of Drug Free Manatee.
 
Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, public health, health administration, social work, or related program
  • Two (2) or more years of non-profit operations experience
  • Strong experience in grant management, administrative support, and human resources  
  • Previous supervisor experience required
  • Local community networking experience
  • Fundraising development and implementation
  • Knowledge of Manatee County's history, development, and growth is preferred
 
Responsibilities:
  • Embody and advocate for the mission, vision, and strategic direction of Drug Free Manatee
  • Facilitate board and committee meetings, including agenda development, board actions, updates, reports, etc.
  • Recommend policies and procedures changes to the Board 
  • Assists the Board with the preparation of the annual budget for the Board to ensure proper allocation of costs, reasonable and necessary expenses, and efficient use of resources
  • Work with the Treasurer to ensure that all revenue and expenses are captured in the correct general ledger accounts on the financials
  • Review the financials provided monthly and recommend any corrections or changes to the Treasurer
  • Provide payroll information to 3rd party processor
  • Cultivate strong and transparent working relationships with the Board to ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones
  • Coordinate with the Treasurer and the Board to ensure compliance of fiscal accounting with state and federal requirements under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate prevention program components and report to the Board, funders, and other constituents
  • Actively engage and energize Drug Free Manatee members and board members, funders, and collaborative partner organizations
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Trustees: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing operations
  • Create and enable the future of Drug Free Manatee through strategic planning, community collaborative efforts, funding expansion through grants, private funding, and exploration of revenue streams
  • Provide direction to coalition membership to determine the strategic direction of the coalition and the organization
  • Manage grant-writing and application activities and work to ensure revenue sources from local, state, and federal authorities
  • Support the Chairperson and the Board of Trustees
  • Monitor the implementation of annual strategic plans, milestones, and goals.
  • Manage the resources and ensure adherence to the budget
  • Coordinate the implementation and oversite of grants 
  • Hold regular staff meetings to ensure team members are fully engaged and supported in their respective roles 
  • Answer staff questions regarding benefits, pay, operations, etc., and escalate concerns to the Board 
  • Maintain a project plan of current programs and initiatives
  • Maintain inventory of all programs, software, and hardware for Drug Free Manatee staff
  • Order supplies and equipment for staff
  • Assist with the completion or delegation of other tasks requested by Drug Free Manatee staff or The Board of Trustees
