Outreach Coordinator

Title:                          Outreach Coordinator
Responsible to:                               Executive Director
 Education:                                    Bachelors Degree
Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or Professional (CPP, CAP)  Florida Certification Board certifiable within 2 years
Hours:                        Full time, 40 hrs/ week
 

Education/Experience Requirements

Ideal Knowledge/Abilities/Skills and Responsibilities:

• Ability to work directly with the public including community leaders, school administrators, teacher, elected officials, government officials, and community agency representatives serving the youth and families of Manatee County.
• Possess a working knowledge of substance abuse prevention and prevention science in order to design and/or select evidence based, best practice, preventions/interventions.
• Possesses knowledge of prevention science, youth development principals, community development and mobilization, and community organizing approaches.
• Coordinate Town Hall meetings in schools and community settings
• Provide leadership/coordination for Drug Endangered Children/Handle with Care Initiative to  ensure development of efforts in Manatee County.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
• Public speaking skills in order to speak with parents, students, community on the importance of prevention and topic specific issues – vaping and underage drinking.
• Organized, good sense of humor, ability to learn new concepts quickly, self-motivated with ability to work independently.
• Provide direction to coalition membership to determine the strategic direction of the coalition and the organization
• Monitor the implementation of annual strategic plans, milestones and goals.
• Knowledge of, and ability to use, a personal computer with word processing and desk top publishing software programs.
