Education: Bachelors Degree
Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or Professional (CPP, CAP) Florida Certification Board certifiable within 2 years
Hours: Full time, 40 hrs/ week
Education/Experience Requirements
Minimum Education – Bachelors Degree in education, public health, social work, psychology, policy advocacy.Ideal Knowledge/Abilities/Skills and Responsibilities:
- Ability to work directly with the public including community leaders, school administrators, teacher, elected officials, government officials, and community agency representatives serving the youth and families of Manatee County.
- Possess a working knowledge of substance abuse prevention and prevention science in order to design and/or select evidence based, best practice, preventions/interventions.
- Possesses knowledge of prevention science, youth development principals, community development and mobilization, and community organizing approaches.
- Coordinate Town Hall meetings in schools and community settings
- Provide leadership/coordination for Drug Endangered Children/Handle with Care Initiative to ensure development of efforts in Manatee County.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
- Public speaking skills in order to speak with parents, students, community on the importance of prevention and topic specific issues – vaping and underage drinking.
- Organized, good sense of humor, ability to learn new concepts quickly, self-motivated with ability to work independently.
- Provide direction to coalition membership to determine the strategic direction of the coalition and the organization
- Monitor the implementation of annual strategic plans, milestones and goals.
- Knowledge of, and ability to use, a personal computer with word processing and desk top publishing software programs.
Position Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $41,000 - $60,000/year
