ALSO Youth Outreach Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full Time (40 hours), including evenings and weekends
Probation: 90 days
Job Summary: The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for community outreach and training activities, school support, and some program services. The work will support increased awareness of the organization, visibility, and community engagement. The Outreach Coordinator works in cooperation with center staff, interns, board members, and volunteers to ensure organizational effectiveness, cohesiveness, and growth.
Be a resource for the community
Actively reach out to businesses, schools, and community organizations to offer training opportunities related to LGBTQ+ cultural proficiency and anti-bullying.
Develop and provide culturally competent, relevant, and innovative educational presentations and curricula for training activities. Schedule and coordinate training programs in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
Serve as ALSO Youth’s ambassador and community advocate for school clubs (GSA, diversity, Rainbow, etc) in middle, high, and college settings in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
Maintain ALSO Youth training and outreach materials for use in community education and outreach, and update as needed.
Maintain a database of schools, businesses, and community organizations that have participated in educational and training events, or are potential participants.
Track all demographic information & totals and provide monthly reports to the ED as requested
Attend community meetings as ALSO Youth representative as coordinated with ED.
Manage necessary supplies and equipment. Ensure cleanliness and report repair or maintenance needs to ED
Attend all required staff meetings, and model and maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment during center activities, and ensure that ALSO Youth visitors and volunteers follow established rules and boundaries.
In conjunction with the ED and ALSO Youth staff, train and utilize volunteers for outreach activities.
Assist with special event planning and execution.
Other duties as necessary or as assigned
Outgoing personality with a high level of comfort meeting new people and engaging in social situations, working in coordination with others, and empowering youth in center activities.
BA Degree or equivalent in a related field (e. g. education, psychology, social work, public health, etc); or an AA Degree with 2 years of outreach experience, or at least 1 year of demonstrated experience in areas such as education, curriculum development, community outreach, or group facilitation.
At least one year working with youth and youth issues; particularly LGBTQ+ youth.
Experience, ability, desire, and commitment to work and identify with LGBTQ+ communities of varying socioeconomic classes, identities, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Ability to work independently in a hectic environment, with limited supervision, and as part of a team.
Organized with attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Self motivation and a sense of humor
Knowledge and familiarity with MS Suite, Google, and various social media platforms
Current Driver’s License, car insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle required
Background check required.
