Support Specialist/Rehab Aide

Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center in Sarasota, Florida is seeking a full-time Support Specialist/Rehab Aide.

Founded in 1985, the Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center is dedicated to providing quality vision rehabilitation services for the blind and visually impaired community in a five-county region. The Support Specialist/Rehab Aide will work with certified staff members that possess a team mentality and are always open to change.

The Support Specialist/Rehab Aide is primarily responsible for providing administrative and classroom support to the Rehab department along with general support for the organization but not limited to:

•   Responsible for greeting visitors/clients at the reception area along with answering and routing incoming telephone calls.

•   Assist with opening all incoming mail, Peepers appointments and mailing of store items.

•   Preparing and mailing of AVL kits to clients which also includes tracking items by date

  and client along with tracking postage amounts.

•   Provide administrative support to the Rehab Managers and instructors.

•   Completes projects and special assignments for Rehab department.

•   Assist Vision Rehabilitation Instructors and/or Rehab Manager in classes or camps.

•   Arrive early to greet and help clients get settled.

•   Work one-on-one with clients under instructor’s supervision to assist in the use of

  equipment and/or to accomplish tasks.

•   Help organize and store materials and straighten classroom.

•   Assist with clerical work related to class – copies, telephone calls, etc.

•   Assist with support groups if needed.

•   Enter/update client information in Apricot.

•   Attend required Lighthouse meetings and trainings.
