Purchasing Assistant

Position Purpose: Partner and support the Purchasing Manager to provide a high level of service to meet customer expectations, maintain inventory levels, and drive the business. Support accounting and inventory initiatives for accurate and timely processing of information updates and cycle counting.

Bonus and Incentive Pay: Eligible for a monthly incentive program based on performance. Eligible for a companywide bonus based on sales goals; equivalent to 0-3 weeks of pay.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Specific Responsible for review of Allied purchasing requirements for over fifty different product lines and placing orders.
  • Responsible to review Allied fill rate reports to maintain proper inventory levels and stock availability and report out monthly totals.
  • Review open PO report daily and manage all backorders.
  • Review transfers on backorder report daily.
  • Communicate with service teams regarding backorders and ETAs.
  • Update and maintain system with order status changes.
  • Manage and submit all vendor claims for parts purchasing.
  • Coordinate all claim requirements with parts warehouse.
  • Communicate all price and part maintenance to Inventory Analyst in accounting and assist with vendor price updates.
  • Responsible for reconciling daily receiving issues, working with the receiving, accounting, and customer service departments.
  • Maintain solid relationships and establish good communications with vendors.
  • Maintain and update Allied purchasing contact and general info spreadsheet.
  • Toro purchasing backup to the principal buyer.
  • Search for alternative options for backorders parts ASG order and inventory management.
  • Assist parts marketing and customer service on Internal kit pricing and maintenance.
  • Support with product maintenance requests.
  • Support with creation of new parts in the system, perform cross references, and obsolescence.
  • Support with coordination of Annual Returns for all vendors.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplies inventories i.e. boxes, labels, bags, etc.
  • Assist with cycle count as needed scheduling and performing periodic audits with Inventory Analyst.
  • Assist with monthly wholegood cycle count entry and reconciliation.
  • Assist with inventory analysis and review by downloading and preparing monthly inventory reports for Inventory Analyst.
  • Prepare warehouses for annual year-end inventory.
Education and/or Experience: Minimum High School Diploma G.E.D. or equivalent Previous experience in a fast paced and detail-oriented position. Previous purchasing experience. Previous inventory management experience. Previous warehouse experience a plus.

Mathematical Skills: High School level mathematics a minimum. Understanding of Fill rates Days-supply Inventory obsolescence

Reasoning Skills: Above average level of logic and problem-solving skills Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles as they arise. Evaluate department processes. Recommend and coordinate needed changes based on process analysis. Must be able to analyze, prioritize and quantify the workload.

Computer Skills: Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Prelude or other inventory management systems. UPS shipping - WorldShip

Physical Demands: Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and lifting to 50 lbs. Must be able to go up and down stairs and ladders.

Work Environment: Partial work area is in a non-climate-controlled workspace. Some work is required outside. Associate may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Noise levels can vary.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $41,000 - $60,000/year
