RIVER RUN GOLF COURSE MANAGER
Department/Location: Public Works and Utilities /Golf Course FLSA Status: Exempt Supervision Exercised: Assigns and directs the work of all employees at the City of Bradenton’s Municipal Golf Course. Supervision Received: Under the general direction of the City Clerk with considerable latitude for independent judgment. General Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is to manage, supervise, and administer the City of Bradenton’s Municipal Golf Course. Management and direction of assigned staff is conducted with considerable independent judgment and initiative under the direction of the City Clerk. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Direct and supervise the entire operation of the municipal golf facility, including all leases and labor operations, snack bar, pro shop and related activities. Coordinate the design additions and alterations of the golf course and facilities; compile necessary estimates, and coordinate proposals in accordance with standard operating procedures. Direct and participate in the compilation and maintenance of all records pertaining to facility income and expenditure, including constructions, purchasing, payroll, retail sales, and other fees. Maintain courteous relationships with the public served by the various facilities and tactfully and efficiently respond to complaints and problems that may arise. Responsible for the safety of both the public and employees relative to the use of machinery, insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers; make assignments and schedule work to facilitate the most efficient and productive use of employee time and talent. Prepare and manage annual operating budget. Conduct marketing and financial planning. Skills and Physical Abilities Required: Proven supervisory and administrative ability is required. Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and accounting systems including modern computer/accounting procedures, practices and equipment. The ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with the general public, City officials, and City employees is also essential. This is medium work requiring exerting up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally and up to twenty (20) pounds of force frequently. Work requires considerable physical activity including walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling, grasping, balancing, climbing, kneeling, standing, and crouching. Visual acuity is required to operate automotive equipment and inspect work performed by crews. Incumbent is also required to hear sufficiently to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment in performance of duties. Inside and outside activities with no effective protection from weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards, and atmospheric conditions. Computer Equipment and Software Requirements: Proficiency in computer software and the ability to adapt to other software programs with ease. Education and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Recreation Administration or a related field or five (5) years of experience in the management and marketing of a municipal golf facility or some similar administrative responsibility is required; a combination of practical experience and training providing the necessary skill, knowledge, and abilities may be considered in lieu of two (2) years of the educational requirements.
