Animal Hospital at Lakewood Ranch is looking for an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our growing team! We offer a fast-paced, positive, and team-oriented work environment. We are looking for technicians that are self-sufficient and do not require micromanagement or continuous direction. Our team is dedicated to not only the highest quality medical care for our patients but also value our clients. Customer service is something we consider to be of the utmost importance, and we treat all our clients as part of our family.
Here is What Your Day Might Consist of:

  • Provide excellent client service communication and support
  • Patient triage and care in an emergency setting
  • Recover CPR certification is preferred but knowledge of current CPR techniques is required.
  • Phlebotomy and advanced IV catheter placement
  • Perform CRI calculations, blood transfusion therapy, placing and maintaining central lines
  • Dispense and administer medications and hourly treatments to hospitalized patients 
  • Medical charting and maintaining patient records
  • Assisting Veterinarians during surgical procedures 
  • Processing Laboratory data 
Here is The Experience You Will Bring to The Job:
  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years working in a veterinary facility (emergency/surgical department preferred)
  • Licensed technicians are preferred but unlicensed technicians will be considered. 
  • Capability to work independently 
  • An understanding of various types of wound care techniques and bandaging
  • Proficient in digital radiology & Veterinary medical terminology 
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication 
  • Positive and upbeat attitude 
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for various hours
  • Ability to lift 50lbs+

Requirements for this position include but are not limited to: a positive attitude, the ability to take initiative & handle stressful situations with poise, general knowledge of animal husbandry & care, ability to draw blood & collect other samples such as fecal and urine, IV catheter placement, ability to restrain animals and take digital radiographs.

We do expect that all our Veterinary Technicians rotate through surgery and understand this aspect as well. If you are not well versed but willing to learn we will work to help you!

Our hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. Note: This is a drug-free workplace.
