About the Humane Society of Manatee County

Founded in 1971, the Humane Society of Manatee County (HSMC) is a 501(c)(3) no-kill, nonprofit animal welfare organization and the leading resource for animal care in Manatee County. We operate the Second Chance Adoption Center and a public, low-to-moderate-cost veterinary clinic—both located in downtown Bradenton.

Each year, our adoption center rehomes over 500 dogs and cats, many of whom require medical or behavioral rehabilitation. Every animal receives top-quality care to prepare for a loving forever home.

Our 10,000-square-foot veterinary clinic, opened in 2015, offers spay/neuter services and a full range of affordable veterinary care, including wellness exams, vaccinations, diagnostics, dental care, surgery, and more—helping ensure all pets in our community have access to essential services.
