Visit our https://scf.edu/Administration/HumanResources/Benefits/default.asp for benefit details Job Summary The Camp Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on, and meaningful learning experiences for K-8th grade campers at SCF's Summer Enrichment Camps. This role involves designing and implementing interactive, age-appropriate activities that spark curiosity, foster creativity, and build essential life skills. The instructor will follow a structured curriculum and collaborate with the Camp Coordinator and Camp Assistant to ensure a safe, fun, and enriching camp environment. Through teamwork, problem-solving, and exploration, the Camp Instructor will create a memorable summer experience for campers, all while adhering to SCF policies and promoting a positive, professional role model. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • Develop and execute innovative, hands-on camp lessons aligned with weekly themes that encourage campers to engage in creative challenges, problem-solving, and teamwork. Foster a fun and enriching learning environment that sparks curiosity and builds valuable life skills such as communication, collaboration, and digital literacy. • Work closely with the Camp Coordinator and Camp Assistant to prepare camp facilities, manage equipment, maintain inventory, and ensure all supplies are ready to support the camp activities and meet class size needs. • Design and implement activities that allow campers to explore new skills, engage in creative projects, and develop digital skills. Ensure campers are actively participating in projects that build confidence and ignite their interest in learning, all while encouraging teamwork and communication. • Support the Camp Coordinator in achieving weekly camp goals, including facilitating field trips, inviting guest speakers, and providing memorable, hands-on experiences. Participate in evaluating the success of each camp week through debriefings, feedback, and program adjustments. • Serve as a problem solver for classroom management issues, addressing camper behavior, health, or safety concerns promptly. Maintain an organized schedule and resolve disruptions with minimal interference. Provide feedback to the Camp Coordinator on camper progress and any issues that arise during camp activities. • Perform other duties as needed to ensure the successful execution of the camp program, from assisting with camper check-in/out procedures to supporting camp-wide events or projects. Job Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education/Experience: Associate's degree from a two-year college or university and experience with K-12 curriculum required. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college preferred. And two or more years related experience and/or training. Prefer applicants with experience working with K-12 youth in a structured learning program. Prefer applicants with teaching experience. • Supervisory Experience: Experience in coaching, advising, and mentoring preferred. • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret texts, periodicals, journals, equipment instructions and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, campers, parents, sponsors, SCF staff, and the public. • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, chart or schedule form. • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office experience is preferred. • Certificates and Licenses: None required. Responsibility for People and Property: Oversees the camp staff in their daily camp activities with campers, parents, sponsors, and guest speakers. Maintains camp equipment, facilities and supplies in safe working order. Responsibility for Communication: • Internal Contacts: Routine contact with all levels of SCF Camp students, parents, and staff. • External Contacts: Contact with camp visitors, sponsors, guest speakers, and occasional visitors touring SCF facilities. Examples include classrooms, athletic fields, performance studios, and outdoor walking trails.
