Visit our https://scf.edu/Administration/HumanResources/Benefits/default.asp for benefit details Job Summary The Clinical Instructor works closely with the program's Clinical Coordinator participating in the instruction and evaluation of radiography students at the clinical education sites and the campus radiography laboratory. This individual will also confer with on-site clinical preceptors to maintain consistency of instruction, expectations, and evaluation of students. Applicants are expected to work 20 hours per week either at the affiliated hospitals/clinics or in the program's campus radiography laboratory. Hospitals/clinics utilized for clinical rotations include but are not limited to: Blake Medical Center, Doctor's Hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Manatee Diagnostic Center, Southshore Hospital, Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice, Radiology Associates of Venice and Englewood, Coastal Orthopedics, and Children's Orthopaedic & Scoliosis Surgery Associates, Tampa. This is an adjunct instructor position and therefore is considered temporary and is contracted as needed. Adjunct Faculty will be paid at a rate of $2000 per 3ILH. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following essential job functions identify various types of work performed in this position. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: 1. Coordinates with the clinical coordinator to develop a schedule of clinical visits.2. Visits clinical education sites as assigned and work with students to assess progress.3. Act as a liaison between the college, the program and the clinical education site.4. Facilitates the transfer of didactic knowledge to the clinical setting in either the campus laboratory or a clinical affiliate.5. Confer with on-site clinical preceptors and staff technologists to maintain consistency of instruction, expectations, and evaluation of students.6. Fairly and equitably evaluates students according to SCF protocols.7. Perform competency and random competency evaluations.8. While working with students, provides appropriate performance feedback.9. Confer with on-site clinical preceptors and staff technologists to assess progress of radiography students.10. Utilizing appropriate program forms, provides the Clinical Coordinator with daily or regular written summaries of students' clinical performance and interactions at the clinical education site.11. Utilizes the faculty input form to notify the clinical coordinator and students of notable clinical performance.12. Immediately notifies Clinical Coordinator of unusual incidents.13. Supplies feedback as requested by the clinical coordinator for student evaluations and conferences.14. Assist in resolving student issues or problems.15. Assist in identifying and training qualified individuals to serve as clinical preceptors and certified evaluators.16. Participates in Clinical Preceptor Workshops and Meetings.17. Assists with laboratory simulations as needed.18. Assist with program maintenance and accreditation as necessary.19. Participates in Student/Faculty Conferences as requested.20. Assists with the annual evaluation of Clinical Preceptor performance using the CI evaluation tool.21. If desired, may teach a radiography course, with approval from program director. While teaching a course, the Clinical Instructor will follow the essential duties and responsibilities as defined in the college's adjunct faculty job description. Degree and credit hour requirements must be met in accordance with the criteria for accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.Earned degree in Radiologic Technology (B.S., A.S., or A.A.S.)Minimum of two years of clinical experience; three or more years preferred • Computer Skills: Must demonstrate effective use of instructional technology and be familiar with current office hardware and software. • Certificates and Licenses: ARRT certification in Radiography Florida DOH Radiologic Technologist license (active, unrestricted) Responsibility for Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate with students, staff and the public. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment varies from very quiet to moderate as is typical of an office or classroom environment. The environment is usually indoors in a centrally heated/air-conditioned climate. Lighting conditions meet recommended standards and are provided by direct and/or indirect electric light fixtures of various kinds. This position may require the wearing of personal protective devices for health and safety precautions. Physical Demands: The physical demands described he re are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to touch, handle, feel or reach objects, tools and controls; and verbally communicate with students and co-workers. The employee may be frequently required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Independently transport oneself to various campus locations on a 100-acre campus. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, identification and discernment of colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
