They are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the program, the maintenance of an exemplary student-athlete concept, and the personal development of student-athletes both on and off the court/field, whose behavior reflects favorably upon the College community and the athletics program in particular. The Head Coach will follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the program and appropriate governing organizations. This position is responsible for the coordination of the intramural and club sports program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • The Head Coach is expected to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner being a positive role model for his/her players, and will ensure assistant coaches and players conduct themselves in a professional manner abiding by the SCF, FCSAA and NJCAA Code of Conduct. • The Head Coach will be responsible for knowing and abiding by all SCF, FCSAA and NJCAA policies and procedures, and is expected to loyally support all policies, procedures and decisions/interpretations rendered by these agencies. • Assumes supervisory control over all phases of team participation. Applies discipline in a firm and consistent manner in accordance with College policies and procedures. Conducts oneself in an ethical manner during practices and contests and demands appropriate behavior from all team personnel. • Attends all softball games. Travels with team to all away games. • Maintains knowledge of current sport game rules and changes to those rules as they occur. • Teaches sports techniques, game rules, strategies and game tactics. • The Head Coach will be responsible for coaching, recruitment and selection of student-athletes, scheduling of games, coordinating practices, promotions, participation in state and national polls, input of statistics in a timely fashion, and public relations both on-campus and in the college district. • Monitors academic progress and eligibility status for softball student-athletes. Takes proactive measures to support academic success. • Assists the Director in preparing eligibility documentation. Completes all required departmental, conference and NJCAA paperwork in a timely fashion as requested. • The Head Coach is responsible for participating in fund-raising projects to support intercollegiate athletics. • Collaborates with the Director on softball budget development and ensures the program remains within the budgetary guidelines. • Prepares a list of equipment to be issued to student-athletes, intramural teams, and club sports. Tracks issuance and returns. • Submits transportation requests and required travel documentation to the Director as required. Reviews transportation and meal arrangements prior to season and request changes if necessary. • Works with appropriate College personnel to communicate the accomplishments and endeavors of the team, both individuals and as a whole. • The Head Coach will participate in non-athletic related college functions, as requested by the Director. • Manages daily operations of intramural and club teams including assisting with the development of programming, scheduling, transportation, and administrative assistance. • Counsels student-athletes, intramural students, club sports students and prospective student-athletes regarding rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility. • Manages intramural student activities budget and prepares an annual proposal of expenses for consideration by the Student Activities Budget Request Committee. • Evaluates new student interest surveys and develops intramural/club programs to specific to student interest to be offered on all three sites (Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, and Venice). • Other duties as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required, minimum of 3 years of related coaching experience at high school level or higher, or the equivalent of combination of education and experience. • Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience is not required.
