Adjunct Faculty, English, Composition, Written Communication State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Location: Lakewood Ranch Department: Language & Literature Closing: Continuous Description State College of Florida is accepting applications for Adjunct Faculty in English, Composition, and Written Communication. This is a part-time, in-person teaching position at the Lakewood Ranch campus. Compensation is $2000 per 3 ILH. Essential Duties • Teach assigned courses • Maintain attendance and punctuality • Prepare syllabi and instructional materials if needed • Deliver course content effectively and support learning outcomes • Participate in assessment activities • Maintain accurate attendance and grading records • Coordinate substitute instruction during absences • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment • Demonstrate professional growth and effective teaching practices • Support departmental collaboration and institutional goals Minimum Qualifications • Master’s degree in English, Literature, or Applied Linguistics; OR • MFA in Writing or Creative Writing; OR • Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in Literature, English, or Applied Linguistics • Demonstrated teaching skills and subject knowledge, preferably at the community college level Additional Requirements • Effective use of instructional technology and office software • Strong communication skills with students, staff, and the public Work Environment & Physical Requirements • Indoor classroom/office setting • May require standing or sitting for extended periods • Ability to travel across campus locations • May require personal protective equipment Pre-Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful background screenings and employment reference checks.
