Supplemental Instruction Specialist - Writing/Humanities State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Location: Bradenton Department: Tutoring and Academic Success Center Closing: Continuous Description State College of Florida is accepting applications for a Supplemental Instruction Specialist - Writing/Humanities. This 10-month position is scheduled for 35 hours per week with a prorated salary range of $22,009.40 - $32,313.17. Benefits may include: • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Tuition scholarships for employees and dependents • Paid life insurance • Florida Retirement System contributions • Wellness activities and paid breaks for eligible employees Job Summary The position oversees tutoring, study coaching, supplemental instruction initiatives, workshops, and developmental skills labs in the Tutoring and Academic Success Center (TASC). Responsibilities include supporting student learning, training tutors, developing study materials, and coordinating academic success initiatives. Essential Duties • Design and assess tutoring, study coaching, and supplemental instruction programs • Develop study and review materials • Maintain expertise in Math, English, or Science • Train and mentor peer tutors • Tutor students individually • Present TASC orientations and workshops • Develop individualized student success activities • Supervise TASC operations during evenings/weekends as needed • Support instructional technology and software platforms • Maintain inventories, equipment, and learning resources • Collaborate with TASC staff and faculty Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and one or more years related experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience • Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred • Expert knowledge in at least one supported field: * College-level English * College-level Math * College-level Science Preferred Qualifications • Lead or supervisory experience • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills • Intermediate computer and instructional software skills • Ability to train staff and solve practical problems Physical & Work Requirements • Indoor work environment with moderate noise • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Pre-Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful background screenings and employment reference checks.
