Provides faculty services including staff training and administering medication and student specific training on health issues. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • Advises school regarding health care for sick students. Serves as a resource person to students, parents, faculty, staff and administration. • Provides training to full time faculty and staff. • Communicates with parents and teachers via letters, notes and/or phone calls concerning care given, incidence/occurrences, pharmaceutical/medical referrals and/or exclusions. • Formulates a plan of care for students with chronic health problems. • Advises the administration regarding administering and charting. Charts pertinent information in the Student Health Record. • Makes recommendations for the prevention of the spread of infection and communicable diseases through the use of aseptic techniques. • Communicates with physicians and other health care professionals on matters affecting the students and staff. • Provides support for disease prevention and healthy lifestyle promotion. • Documents and follows up on referrals to include dental, hygiene, H.G.&D., incontinence, vision, hearing, scoliosis, medications and nutrition. • May participate in Child Study Meetings and the preparation of I.E.P.'s. • Reviews health room log. • Completes screenings for vision, hearing, scoliosis, height, weight, dental and blood pressure as required. • Completes physical and social assessments. • Provides information to parents requiring financial assistance for medical issues. • Completes Lion's Club application for glasses for eligible students. • Implements and monitors compliance with State Immunization and Physical Examination Laws, Issue 680 A, B & C's when appropriate. • Insures that the school notifies parents of incomplete documentation and makes recommendations for exclusions to Head of School. • Reviews medical history and compiles High Risk List and distributes as required. • Maintains communications with parents to obtain all necessary information. • Compiles statistical data as required. • Attends staff meetings when needed and serves on various committees as required. • Reports communicable diseases to the MCPHU. • Participates in curriculum development and updates, Comprehensive School Health Plan and Health Manual updates. • Performs other duties as assigned. Must be a Florida Registered Nurse with a minimum of one (1) year of successful nursing experience. • Supervisory Experience: None required for position. • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram/chart, or schedule form. • Computer Skills: Must have a solid working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, Internet, and database software; • Certificates and Licenses: Florida Registered Nursing licenseAdult CPR certificationStandard First Aid certification Responsibility for People and Property: This position is responsible to provide nursing services to the students at the SCF Collegiate School when on campus and available. Responsibility for Communication: • Internal Contacts: This position has routine and frequent contact with SCFCS students, faculty, staff and parents and occasional contact with SCF administrators and staff. • External Contacts: This position has regular contact with the Manatee County School Health Services for reporting purposes.
